2014 Mercedes-Benz S63 AMG revealed

Mercedes-Benz has officially taken the wraps off the high-performance variant of the new S-Class, the 2014 S63 AMG, which is set for its first public appearance at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September.

The new model comes with the usual AMG tweaks like the more aggressive bumpers, larger alloy wheels and quad exhaust setup which all give the car a sportier look.

The S63 AMG is powered by a 5.5-liter V8 engine producing 585 bhp and 900 Nm of torque; it is mated to a seven-speed AMG SPEEDSHIFT MCT sports transmission. Performance-wise, the luxury sports saloon will sprint from 0-100 km/h in 4.4 seconds, compared to just 4 seconds for the all-wheel drive 4MATIC model. Top speed is electronically limited to 250 km/h.

Thanks to the AMG forged alloys, lightweight lithium-ion battery and lighter braking system, the new S63 AMG is up to 100 kg lighter than its predecessor; the short wheelbase model weighs 1,970 kg with the fuel tank 90 percent filled.

The 2014 Mercedes-Benz S63 AMG is expected to arrive to Middle East showrooms in late 2013.
