March 1, 2016 – Bugatti has officially taken the wraps off its new Chiron hypercar, the Veyron’s successor, ahead of its first public appearance at the 2016 Geneva Motor Show this week.
The Chiron is the world’s most powerful production car thanks to its 8.0-liter 16-cylinder engine with four turbochargers that now develops a massive 1,479 horsepower and 1,600 Nm of torque. A seven-speed, dual-clutch automatic gearbox sends power to all four wheels.
Despite being 155 kilograms heavier than the Veyron, the Chiron (1,995 kilograms) is marginally faster than its predecessor as it manages to sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in less than 2.5 seconds and 0 to 200 km/h in less than 6.5 seconds, before topping out at a limited 420 km/h.
Only 500 units of the Chiron will be produced.
