August 1, 2015 – The new Honda Civic Type R is no slouch, as it produces 306 horsepower from its turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine, which is 14hp more than what the VW Golf R makes.
However, when you pit the front-wheel drive Civic Type R against an all-wheel drive 362hp Audi RS3 and a rear-wheel drive 425hp BMW M3 on a racetrack, you wouldn’t expect the Japanese hatchback to be very competitive.
Auto Express wanted to find out whether the Honda can keep up with the two German sports cars. The result is a bit of a shock.
