Five reasons why the BMW 2 Series is better than the 4 Series

Yes, I do believe the BMW 2 Series is better than its bigger sibling, and for many reasons. You do not agree? Continue reading and you just might start to understand where I’m trying to go with this…

It is smaller

Hence lighter, and lighter is always better. With the same N55 turbocharged 3.0-liter six-cylinder engine, the M235i is actually around 40 kilograms lighter than the 435i. This should play to the former’s advantage.

It looks just as good

While this is debatable, I think the 2 Series looks a tiny bit better than the 4 Series. It adds a breath of unique to BMW’s line-up and I just love how adequately-sized it is. Unlike the E92 3 Series Coupe, the 4 Series is a 3 Series with two doors. However, this doesn’t make it any less good-looking.

It is cheaper

Looking at Yahoo Autos, I discovered that the 228i is a whopping 8400 dollars cheaper than the 428i, the M235i is almost 3000 dollars cheaper than the slower and heavier 435i. Although, to be fair, the 4 Series does come with more luxuries.

It is faster

You don’t believe me? Watch the video right above. The M235i is more powerful and quicker than a 435i; it boasts 326 horsepower and accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.8 sec, while the pricier 435i has 306 horsepower and sprints from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.1 seconds.

It is the genuine 3 Series Coupe successor

The 2 Series Coupe is the real successor to the older generation 3 Series Coupe models. The 4 Series has grown too big and too fancy. Those searching for a small, simple, beautifully balanced and powerful sports car like the older 3 Series Coupes, are better off with a 2 Series. Don’t get me wrong, the 4 Series is a brilliant car, but is it worth the extra money, performance-wise? I personally don’t think so.
