April 4, 2015 – Motor Trend requested three of the world’s fastest hypercars, the LaFerrari, McLaren P1 and Porsche 918 Spyder, for an epic track battle around the famous Laguna Seca circuit. Ferrari refused to be part of it, McLaren sent a P1 with a team of technicians, while Porsche happily offered their 918 Spyder with no support whatsoever.
So, Motor Trend were left with a P1 and a 918 Spyder, which is more than enough. On paper, the McLaren seems like the faster of the two, but paper is just paper, and the Nürburgring record holder – the Porsche 918 Spyder – is a car that should never be underestimated.
