Porsche introduces the 911 GT3 RS in Geneva

March 3, 2015 – Porsche has revealed its much-awaited RS version of the 991-generation 911 GT3 sports car today at the Geneva International Motor Show.

Extensive modifications to its drive system, aerodynamics and lightweight design enhance performance even more than in the 911 GT3, and according to Porsche, the new 911 GT3 RS has clocked a lap time of seven minutes and 20 seconds, which makes it faster than the Carrera GT supercar from 2003.

The Porsche 911 GT3 RS is powered by a four-litre six-cylinder engine with 500 horsepower and 460 Nm of torque, combined with a specially developed PDK transmission. The engine accelerates the high-performance sports car from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.3 seconds and to 200 km/h in 10.9 seconds.

The new RS model weighs 1,420 kg, around ten kilograms lighter than the 911 GT3, and it borrows the 911 Turbo’s wide body.
