Lewis Hamilton secured his 2nd victory of the season at the 2012 Hungarian Grand Prix after a commanding drive from pole, making him the 3rd driver to win more than one race this season.
Hamilton had to fend off Romain Grosjean’s Lotus at the first half of the race, and Grosjean’s teammate Raikkonen at the second half to clinch victory by 1 second only.
World Champion Sebastian Vettel failed to capitalize on a 3 stop strategy; the German settled for 4th place ahead of Ferrari’s Fernando Alonso who had to defend his position from a charging Jenson Button.
Button struggled for pace throughout the race; the McLaren driver opted for a 3 stop strategy which did not pan out in the end and pushed him to 6th.
Bruno Senna took advantage of strategy errors from others to finish in 7th place ahead of Red Bull’s Mark Webber, Ferrari’s Felipe Massa and Mercedes’ Nico Rosberg.
