McLaren’s driver line-up will feature two world champions in the 2015 Formula 1 World Championship season.
British newspapers say Jenson Button has been selected to be fellow champion Fernando Alonso’s Honda-powered McLaren teammate in 2015.
> Ferrari officially announces Fernando Alonso’s departure
Contrary to earlier speculation that McLaren’s protege Kevin Magnussen would remain with the team for a second year, the news was reported by major publications such as Sky Sports F1, BBC Sports and The Daily Mail.
The Daily Mail said it had learned of 34-year-old Button’s new deal from “an impeccably-placed source within McLaren”.
The team is expected to announce its 2015 lineup, with Spaniard Alonso returning to the team in perhaps the most lucrative deal in F1 history, during a press conference at its UK headquarters on Thursday morning.
