May 5, 2016 – Red Bull have announced their decision to switch between Max Verstappen and Daniil Kvyat from the Spanish Grand Prix onwards, with the latter demoted to Toro Rosso.
The decision comes after Daniil Kvyat crashed twice into the Ferrari of Sebastian Vettel at the start of the Russian Grand Prix, ruining both their races, in addition to his teammate Daniel Ricciardo’s race.

“Max has proven to be an outstanding young talent. His performance at Toro Rosso has been impressive so far and we are pleased to give him the opportunity to drive for Red Bull Racing.”
He added: “Dany will be able to continue his development at Toro Rosso, in a team that he is familiar with, giving him the chance to regain his form and show his potential.” said Red Bull boss Christian Horner.”
McLaren driver Jenson Button was surprsied with the decision, writing on Twitter: “Really? one bad race and Kyvat’s dropped, what about the podium in the previous race? Short memories.”
