After taking an official ATCL opinion we had to see what the drivers have to say. Who other than multiple Hill Climb Champion, and championship leader Abdo Feghali, is the right person to ask? Check out what he had to say…
What can you tell us about the new road in Bteghrine? Earlier in the previous interview we saw the opinion of ATCL, and we would like to take your opinion as a driver.
AS a driver I can say that the road is very wide. The insertion of the chicane and the water barriers will turn the event into a speed test and not a Hill Climb. There is no driving technique on this road. I call this road a highway. We hope that all the safety measures are on the highest level because if something bad happens we will all be losers.
Anyway the road is very difficult for the spectators to access. There is not in pass and they will have to walk a lot to reach a good place to watch the race. This is a loss of us.
ATCL’s argument is that they couldn’t find any other option. They couldn’t even revert to Falougha or Deir El Qamar. What can you say about that?
Well I can understand that they are making big efforts but we used to go to places like the “Herre” in Chekka as well as “Blat” so why not try it again. We also suggested that ATCL can use the small narrow road that links Bteghrine to Zaarour which is on the first right corner from the current road. The road should be around 2.5 Kilometers, but ATCL are claiming that it’s only 1.5 Kilometers. Anyway the decision had been made and in the coming 2 days we will practice and we will see if we participate or not.
Upon defining the road many claimed that BMW cars will have the edge. How accurate is this?
Well it’s not accurate at all. I don’t know how anybody can say that. We all know that with the chicanes they will become even slower and further away. High Altitudes will not suit their cars and cars with Turbos will have the edge. I believe that the Proto Types will be further away. Anyway I am preparing a big Turbo for the BMW rivals.
