Michael Schumacher’s son takes podium in Karting World Championship

At 15 years old, Mick Betsch, the son of Formula 1 legend Michael Schumacher, finished on the podium during a CIK-FIA World Championship round in France this past weekend.

Betsch, who took his mother Corinna’s last name to stay away from the public eye, completed the round in second place overall in the KF Junior class, almost 6 seconds behind the winner Enaam Ahmed.

In a post-race interview, Schumacher Junior said: “Of course I am proud of such an important result,” before adding: “But it is also clear that it is my goal to be world champion. This is only the beginning of my career.”

In related news, his father Michael, who had spent that past 9 months in a hospital in France due to severe head damage caused by a skiing accident, has returned to his family home to continue treatment.
