2014 Rally Mexico: Ogier extends lead amid more drama

Sebastien Ogier has extended his Rally Mexico lead by winning Saturday morning’s two opening special stages amid more drama for his rivals. Ogier’s advantage over team-mate Jari-Matti Latvala has now grown to almost 50 seconds.

Latvala inherited second place from Citroen’s Mads Ostberg whose DS3 WRC suffered from a left rear damage on SS13, which put the Norwegian out of contention for victory; he will have to restart under Rally 2.

Hyundai’s consistent Thierry Neuville moved past M-Sport’s Elfyn Evans and now lies third overall, 11 seconds ahead of his rival. Andreas Mikkelsen and Robert Kubica both went off on SS13 and for the second time in this event.
