2015 Rally Australia Final Results

September 13, 2015 – Volkswagen driver Sebastien Ogier won the tenth round of the 2015 World Rally Championship season in Australia to secure his third consecutive WRC drivers’ title with three rounds left on the calendar.

Ogier completed the first day of Rally Australia behind his teammate Jari-Matti Latvala and Citroen’s Kris Meeke, but he took the lead at the end of the second day and extended it throughout the third and final day – winning the power stage – to finish 12.3 seconds clear of Latvala, who finished second in the overall standings.

Kris Meeke prevented a Volkswagen 1-2-3 as he successfully fended off Andreas Mikkelsen and rounded out the podium. He finished 32.6 seconds behind the leader.

Hayden Paddon was the best-placed Hyundai driver, finishing fifth overall behind Mikkelsen and ahead of M-Sport Ford’s Ott Tanak, and his teammates Thierry Neuville and Dani Sordo who ended up seventh and eighth respectively.

In WRC 2, Qatar’s Nasser Al-Attiyah (Ford Fiesta RRC) took the victory, with Ukraine’s Yuriy Protasov (Ford Fiesta RRC) failing to mount a challenge and settling for second place in the category, 13.5 seconds behind the two-time Dakar Rally winner.

Ogier now has 235 points in the drivers’ championship, compared to 131 points for Latvala.
