Abu Dhabi Racing (ADR) and Sheikh Khalid Al Qassimi will skip round four of the FIA Middle East Rally Championship (MERC), the International Rally of Lebanon, scheduled for August 29, 2014, due to the security situation in that country.
The former Middle East rally champion, who is also chairman of ADR, was keenly looking forward to the Lebanon event in the hope of securing maximum points and closing the gap to championship leader.
Sheikh Khalid said: “I was looking forward to participating in the International Rally of Lebanon this year; it is one of the most beautiful rallies that any driver would love to tackle.
“However, we need to take into considerations the security situation. That said, I would like to thank the organizers of the event, the Automobile and Touring Club of Lebanon (ATCL), for the efforts they pay in organizing Rally of Lebanon.”
“I wish all the participants in the International Rally of Lebanon the very best and I am now looking forward to meeting them next at the Cyprus Rally.”
Cyprus Rally, the fifth and penultimate round of the championship, will be held on September 19 while Dubai will hold the traditional finale on November 27.
