Dakar Rally 2015 – Stage 3: Terranova fastest

January 6, 2015 – Orlando Terranova clinched a second, and this time uninherited, victory in the Dakar Rally 2015 today. The Argentinean maintained the domination of the MINIs, beating Toyota’s Giniel de Villiers by almost two minutes at the finish of the third special stage.

Qatar’s Nasser Al-Attiyah remains in a healthy 5-minute lead in the general standings, ahead of de Villiers and Terranova who are second and third overall, while Carlos Sainz and Yazeed Al Rajhi both move up to fourth and fifth overall after great performances on the third day.

KTM’s Matthias Walkner picked up his first ever Dakar success by taking the stage victory on the third special in the bikes category. The Austrian, a three times MX1 and MX3 world champion, finished 40 seconds ahead of fellow KTM rider Marc Coma, while Honda’s Joan Barreda completed the stage third fastest and extended his lead in the general standings.
