September 3, 2016 – Eddy Abou Karam secured his maiden Lebanese Rally Championship Group N title after successfully finishing the first leg of the 39th Rally of Lebanon today.
Abou Karam and co-driver Joseph Kmeid had a comfortable lead in the championship standings prior to the rally and therefore did not need to push in Leg 1. However, their day wasn’t free of trouble as they had to compete with a broken driveshaft in the morning stages.
After safely reaching service and fixing the car, the Mitsubishi Evo X crew raised their game in the afternoon stages by going fastest in Group N in the last two specials to finish the day in 2nd place in the category and 6th overall, and claim the title as a result.
With the title now in the bag, Eddy and Joseph will push for a Group N victory in Rally of Lebanon tomorrow. Moreover, Eddy is targeting a top 3 finish in the overall standings of the Lebanese Rally Championship.
