June 12, 2016 – Tamer Ghandour secured his maiden rally victory in the 5th Jezzine Rally, the second round of the 2016 Lebanese Rally Championship, as Roger Feghali’s event came to a dramatic end.
Feghali (Evo X) was leading the rally before the final loop, but a 1 minute 20 second penalty for being late put him behind both Ghandour (Evo X R4) and Rodolphe Asmar – the latter finishing second overall in the Ford Fiesta R5, while Feghali settled for third overall as a result of that late penalty, but salvaged first in Group N.
Eddy Abou Karam (Evo X) made a great comeback to climb from 4th to 2nd in Group N and snatch the position, beating Rabih Ayoub and Joseph Hindy – 3rd and 4th in Group N respectively.
Bassel Abou Hamdan (Citroen DS3 R3) won the RC3 class, with Robert Aaraj (Renault Clio R3) second and Rony Kanaan (Citroen DS3 R3) third.
Patrick Njeim (Peugeot 208 R2) beat Majed Khoury (Skoda Fabia R2) to the RC4 class trimuph, whilst Matthias Njeim (Suzuki Swift Sport) completed the event to secure the RC5 class win.
