Nasser Al-Attiyah has extended his Cyprus Rally lead to 1 minute 36.4 seconds from second-placed Abdulaziz Al-Kuwari after dominating all of Saturday’s afternoon stages. Al-Attiyah managed to win all of the Cyprus Rally stages so far bar SS5 which went to Khalid Al-Qassimi.
Abdulaziz Al-Kuwari held on to second place but now has Al-Qassimi breathing down his neck with just 1.6 seconds separating the duo going into the final day, which will consist of eight special stages split into two loops.
Yazeed Al-Rajhi, who was running fourth overall, retired from the rally on SS4; his stoppage was due to a “mechanical failure” on his Fiesta RRC, he wrote on his Twitter account.
