Qatari driver Nasser Saleh Al-Attiyah has dominated the early part of the Cyprus Rally, the fifth and penultimate round of the 2013 Middle East Rally Championship, by going quickest on all of Saturday morning’s stages; Al-Attiyah also won Friday’s Super Special Stage.
The eight-times MERC champion, who’s driving a Ford Fiesta RRC, goes into Saturday’s afternoon stages 26.1 seconds ahead of Abdulaziz Al-Kuwari, with Khalid Al-Qassimi, the sole participant on a Citroen DS3 RRC, a further 6.7 seconds adrift in third place.
Al-Attiyah will be crowned Middle East Rally Champion for the ninth time if he wins the event this weekend.
