Rallye Monte Carlo 2015: Ogier heads a Volkswagen 1-2-3

January 25, 2015 – Reigning world rally champion Sebastien Ogier has won the opening round of the 2015 World Rally Championship today in Monte Carlo.

The Frenchman finished the four-day rally with a 58 seconds lead in his Volkswagen Polo R after fending off an early challenge from nine-time world champion Sebastien Loeb.

Finn Jari-Matti Latvala finished second, 1 minute 14.3 seconds ahead of Andreas Mikkelsen, who completed a 1-2-3 for the Volkswagen squad, while Mads Ostberg ended up being the best-placed non-Volkswagen driver, finishing fourth overall in his Citroen ahead of the Hyundai pair Thierry Neuville and Dani Sordo who settled for fifth and sixth respectively.

Kris Meeke won the rally-closing live TV Power Stage in Citroen’s DS3 to take maximum bonus points. Loeb claimed two points for second in a similar car, with Latvala taking one point for third.
