1-The very first “verhicle with gas engine drive” was patented by Carl Benz on in 1886 – 125 years ago!
2- The first Mercedes Simplex was launched in 1902 and can still be seen at the Mercedes-Benz Museum today.
3- The Mercedes-Benz 500 K Roadster was first built in 1934 with K standing for “Kompressor” (supercharger).
4- The Mercedes 180 was the first Ponton to be launched in 1953 with a top speed of 126 km/h.
5- The iconic Mercedes 300 SL Gullwing first touched ground in 1954 followed by its roadster version in 1957.
6- Better known as /8 the E-Class W 114/115 was introduced in 1968 – hence the ‘slash eight’.
7- The W116 were produced from 1972 through 1980 otherwise known as S-Class designating this series of “Sonderklasse” (special class).
8- The Mercedes 190 (W201) first hit the road in 1982 with a maximum speed of 185 km/h.
9- With its latest model launched in 2011, the first Mercedes SLK was produced in 1996 and featured one of the first modern retractable hardtops.
10- Earlier this year the B-Class F-CELL took of for a journey around the world that has just recently ended in Stuttgart – a great success!
11- Based on the W211 E-Class platform, the CLS was originally launched in 2004 with its latest generation introduced in 2010.
12- First introduced at the Geneva Auto Show in 2010 the F 800 is the latest of Mercedes-Benz’ research vehicles – F standing for “Forschung” (research).
