2012 Belgian Grand Prix race results: Button dominates in Belgium

Jenson Button took his second and McLaren’s fourth victory of the season in a dramatic Belgian Grand Prix which saw 5 drivers retire on the very first corner of the first lap after a collision between Lotus driver Romain Grosjean and McLaren driver Lewis Hamilton.

Romain Grosjean pushed Hamilton off track on the starting line, the latter, with nowhere to go, crashed into the back of the Frenchman which lead to a chain of accidents involving Fernando Alonso and Sauber duo Kamui Kobayashi and Sergio Perez.

Button proved unbeatable throughout the race and lead from pole all the way till the end, while Red Bull driver Sebastian Vettel took advantage of the early drama in addition to some amazing overtaking moves to claim second place ahead of Kimi Raikkonen in the Lotus.

Nico Hulkenberg put on an impressive performance to clinch fourth place ahead of Ferrari’s Felipe Massa and Red Bull’s Mark Webber who moved down to third in the championship after today’s result.

Toro Rosso enjoyed the best race of the season so far with both drivers Jean-Eric Vergne and Daniel Ricciardo securing a points finish in eighth and ninth respectively, behind seventh-placed Schumacher.

Paul Di Resta ensured both Force Indias made it into the top 10 as he crossed the line in tenth.
