2012 German MotoGP race results: Pedrosa wins as Stoner crashes

Dani Pedrosa took his first MotoGP win of the season and his third in Germany after a dramatic end to a smooth race. Pedrosa defended his position from a charging Stoner, only for the latter to crash out at the very last lap, thus handing second position to championship rival Jorge Lorenzo.

Tech 3 rider Andrea Dovizioso came home in 3rd place after having overtaken Ben Spies on lap eight; Spies then lost an additional position to Cal Crutchlow on Turn 12 of that same lap.

Stefan Bradl came on top of four-way fight with the two Ducatis of Valentino Rossi and Nicky Hayden in addition to Hector Barbera’s Pramac Ducati to secure 5th.

Alvaro Bautista surged through the field after his Dutch MotoGP penalty had sent him to the back of the grid; he ended up in 7th position, ahead of Crutchlow’s Tech 3 Yamaha.

Nicky Hayden finished 10th behind an array of closely-packed drivers.
