Lewis Hamilton gave McLaren their 150th pole position after dominating the qualifying session for the 2012 Hungarian Grand Prix in Budapest this afternoon.
The Briton banged a 1m20.953s, to go 0.413s faster than 2nd-placed Romain Grosjean who managed to qualify on the front row for the first time in his Formula 1 career.
Sebastian Vettel looked like a genuine threat for pole throughout qualifying, but lost time on the third sector of his last run and will be starting tomorrow’s race in 3rd alongside McLaren driver Jenson Button.
Despite looking fast, Kimi Raikkonen only managed 5th, with German Grand Prix winner Fernando Alonso in 6th and teammate Felipe Massa in 7th.
Williams duo Pastor Maldonado and Bruno Senna put on some great laps to claim 8th and 9th positions respectively, with Force India driver Nico Hulkenberg wrapping up the top 10.
