Jorge Lorenzo boosted his championship lead after claiming victory in a race that saw title rival Dani Pedrosa crash out after making contact with Hector Barbera’s Pramac Ducati. Lorenzo’s win in Misano extends his championship lead to 38 points with five races remaining.
Valentino Rossi gave the Italian fans something to cheer about as he finished in second place in his last outing with Ducati on home soil, with Gresini Honda’s Alvaro Bautista completing the podium in third.
Yamaha riders Andrea Dovizioso and Ben Spies challenged Bautista for the last podium spot, with Dovizioso finishing in fourth, just 0.003s behind Bautista, while Spies ended up in fifth place ahead of LCR Honda’s Stefan Bradl.
