Jari-Matti Latvala took the lead of the Wales Rally after dominating the second half of Day 1, while teammate Petter Solberg held on to second place with the Fiestas proving better in the slippery conditions.
The Finn was 12.1 seconds faster than his teammate at the end of the day. Citroen duo meanwhile were having a rough day with championship leader Sebastien Loeb in third and Mikko Hirvonen back in fifth.
Adapta Ford driver Mads Ostberg kicked his Wales Rally campaign in good fashion, the Norwegian is currently in fifth place, around 20 seconds ahead of Hirvonen’s Citroen.
