Jari-Matti Latvala drove a dominant 2012 Wales Rally GB to secure victory by a comfortable margin of 27.8 seconds from second-placed Sebastien Loeb. Latvala’s victory is his second this season, the first being at Rally Sweden, seven months ago.
Sebastien Loeb managed to beat Latvala’s Ford teammate Petter Solberg to the runner-up spot on the penultimate stage; the Citroen driver finished just 0.9 seconds ahead of the Norwegian.
Mads Ostberg had to nurse his way home to fourth place as engine problems hit his Fiesta on the final day. Hirvonen meanwhile ended the Rally in a disappointing fifth place despite upping his pace today.
M-Sport Ford driver Ott Tanak suffered from an accident which lead to his withdrawal, thus handing sixth place to his teammate Evgeny Novikov. Novikov was followed by Thierry Neuville, Matthew Wilson and Martin Prokop respectively.
Nasser Al-Attiyah moved up three positions on Sunday afternoon to complete the top 10 positions.
