2012 marked the end of an era for the World Rally Championship, with Sebastien Loeb clinching his ninth consecutive title for Citroen and declaring his retirement from the sport.
The second surprise of the season came when Ford announced their withdrawal, leaving Citroen and Volkswagen as the only manufacturers for 2013; a fact short-lived following Hyundai‘s reveal of their WRC programme and i20 WRC challenger in France.
