Toyota has finally taken the wraps off of its 2013 and all-new Auris which is set to make its first public appearance at the Paris Motor Show at the end of September in both regular and hybrid versions.
In addition to being 30 mm longer and 55 mm lower than its predecessor, the new Auris is 40 kilograms lighter despite the 10 per cent increase in body stiffness.
The family hatchback will be offered in three different powertrain specifications: a 1.3-liter or 1.6-liter gasoline engine, a 1.4-liter diesel engine and a hybrid version which will consist of a 1.8-liter gasoline engine mated to an electric motor with a nickel-metal battery setup.
Expected to go on sale in early 2013 with a higher-quality interior than the previous model, the new Auris will compete against the Volkswagen Golf, Ford Focus and other cars in its segment.
