Volkswagen have taken the covers off of the convertible version of their famous Golf GTI. The car, previewed at the 2012 Geneva Motor Show, will be available across continents starting mid-June.
The cabriolet keeps the 2.0L turborcharged 4-cylinder engine seen on the hatchback variant, the unit pumps out a healthy 207hp; it is mated to a standard six-speed manual or an optional dual-clutch DSG transmission.
The four-seater convertible returns an estimated fuel consumption of 7.6L/100km, while it accelerates from 0-100km/h in 7.3 seconds, 0.4 seconds slower than its hatchback sister due to additional weight.
It takes the soft top 9 seconds to fully deploy at speeds below 30km/h.
