Mercedes’ Nico Rosberg secured his third victory of the 2014 Formula 1 season at the eighth round in Austria this afternoon. Rosberg, who qualified third, managed to move past the two Williams ahead of him and fend off pressure from teammate Lewis Hamilton to triumph and further extend his championship lead.
Followin a mistake in Qualifying, Hamilton made a superb start and jumped from ninth on the grid to fourth. He later overtook the two Williams and chased down, but it was too late to battle for victory.
The Williams pair Valtteri Bottas and Felipe Massa completed the race in fourth and fifth respectively, followed by Ferrari’s Fernando Alonso.
Red Bull’s Sebastian Vettel retired from the race with power unit issues, while teammate Daniel Ricciardo salvaged eighth with a brilliant move on Hulkenberg during the closing stages of the race.
