The fourth and penultimate round of the 2014 Lebanese Karting Championship concluded with victory to Christopher Njeim in the final race of the Junior class, followed by Christophe Rizk in second place and Serge Antypas in third. It was Christopher’s fourth consecutive final race win and his ticket to the championship title.
Christopher Njeim: “I wasn’t well prepared for this race as I had a back injury. But I was surprised in qualifying to be on top. The pre-final race was pretty close, Christophe [Rizk] tried to overtake on the outside, and I couldn’t see him as I took the racing line, so we collided and he dropped back. In the final race, I had a bad start, so I was lucky to have maintained P1.”
Christophe Rizk: “I had a good start in the pre-final race, and I managed to catch up with Christopher [Njeim]; I tried to overtake, but he couldn’t see me pull alongside him, so we collided and I ended up finishing fifth. We changed the car’s setup a bit for the final race, and I overtook most drivers to finish second.”
Serge Antypas: “I qualified fourth, but I overtook the guy in front of me in the pre-final race, and I moved to second place when Christophe went off. I knew that I would not be able to challenge Christopher in the final race and that Christophe would catch up, so I did not take any risks, and eventually finished third after Christophe managed to get by.”
