2014 Rally Finland: Latvala fends off Ogier for the win

Jari-Matti Latvala successfully fended off his Volkswagen teammate Sebastien Ogier in the closing stages of Rally Finland to win the event and secure his third triumph of the season.

Latvala found himself on the back foot on Saturday afternoon when the brakes on his Polo WRC failed, meaning he lost the 30-second gap to Ogier. However, the Finn put on a great performance on the final day, and despite winning just one of today’s three special stages, still managed to maintain a very slim lead and ultimately clinch the win.

Citroen’s Kris Meeke took his third podium finish of the season by taking third overall ahead of Volkswagen’s Andreas Mikkelsen and M-Sport Ford’s Mikko Hirvonen.
