Volkswagen’s Jari-Matti Latvala has extended his Rally Germany lead after dominating most of the second day of running. Latvala has built a 50-second gap to second place man Kris Meeke after winning three of five Saturday special stages so far, and with two special stages to go before the end of the day.
At the end of SS12, Kris Meeke holds on to second place overall, but Hyundai Motorsport driver Thierry Neuville is breathing down his neck as only 0.4 seconds separate the duo. Neuville was fifth overall after SS9, but has now made his way up to third and looks in a good position to snatch second away from Meeke.
Dani Sordo (Hyundai) is fourth overall, closely followed by Volkswagen’s Andreas Mikkelsen who’s in turn 16 seconds ahead of M-Sport Ford’s Mikko Hirvonen.
