Mercedes’ Lewis Hamilton will start from pole position during the first-ever Russian Grand Prix in Sochi as he set the fastest lap during Qualifying this afternoon.
Hamilton went 0.2 seconds faster than team mate Nico Rosberg, while Williams’ Valtteri Bottas, who challenged the two Mercedes for pole, messed up the third sector of his final flying lap to settle with P3.
Jenson Button confirmed McLaren’s promising pace, setting the fourth fastest lap, followed by Toro Rosso’s impressive Daniil Kvyat.
