Lewis Hamilton fended off heavy pressure from Mercedes teammate Nico Rosberg during the Spanish Grand Prix, fifth round of the 2014 Formula 1 World Championship, to score his fourth consecutive victory this season.
Hamilton made a good start and maintained the lead into turn 1 ahead of Rosberg, but a different strategy, with Hamilton finishing on the Hards and Rosberg on the Mediums, saw the latter close in on his teammate near the end of the race. However, the German failed to move past and had to settle for second place.
Red Bull Racing were best of the rest as Daniel Ricciardo securing his first podium of the season ahead of teammate Sebastian Vettel, who drove a fantastic race from 15th on the grid.
Valtteri Bottas crossed the finish line in fifth for Williams, while the two Ferraris of Fernando Alonso and Kimi Raikkonen finished sixth and seventh as Romain Grosjean scored Lotus’ first points this season in 8th.
