Despite Lewis Hamilton’s dominance during free practice, it was his team mate Nico Rosberg who took pole for the 2014 United States Grand Prix when he set the fastest lap during Qualifying. Rosberg clocked a 1 minute 36.067 seconds to beat Hamilton by almost 0.4 seconds.
Williams’ Valtteri Bottas and Felipe Massa took expected third and fourth places respectively, while Red Bull’s Daniel Ricciardo beat Ferrari’s Fernando Alonso for fifth place.
The McLarens of Jenson Button and Kevin Magnussen settled for seventh and eighth ahead of the second Ferrari of Kimi Raikkonen.
