2014 WRC Rally Sweden: Latvala leads as Ogier falters

Jari-Matti Latvala has taken the Rally Sweden lead this morning as Volkswagen teammate Sebastien Ogier and previous leader tumbled down the order after hitting a snowbank on the opening stage (SS8), costing him more than 4 minutes.

Latvala won the stage but remained second overall to teammate Andreas Mikkelsen, and it wasn’t until SS10 that the Finn managed to move past his Norwegian rival. Ogier set the quickest times on SS9 and SS10, but his early mistake means he’s now 13th overall.

Andreas Mikkelsen is second, just 1.6 seconds behind Latvala, followed by Citroen’s Mads Ostberg in third place and M-Sport Ford’s Mikko Hirvonen in fourth place.

Henning Solberg was the fastest man on the morning loop’s final stage (SS11), he’s down in ninth place overall.
