March 13, 2015 – Mercedes’ Nico Rosberg once again beat his team-mate to the top of the timesheet during the second free practice session for the opening round of the Formula 1 world championship, the Australian Grand Prix.
Rosberg clocked a 1 minute 27.697 seconds on the soft compound tyres, faster than team-mate Lewis Hamilton by just 1 tenth of a second, while Ferrari’s Sebastian Vettel settled for third place ahead of team-mate Kimi Raikkonen.
Valtteri Bottas was fifth fastest for Williams but team-mate Felipe Massa was unable to run thanks to a water leak that was detected ahead of the session. Red Bull also had only Daniil Kvyat’s car running thanks to the need for an engine change on Daniel Ricciardo’s RB11.
The McLarens struggled once more, with Jenson Button more than 3 seconds off the pace, while Kevin Magnussen ended the session at the bottom of timesheet, 5.5 seconds behind the leader.
