BMW has unveiled the high-performance M variants of its X5 and X6 SUVs ahead of their official debut at the LA Auto Show later this month.
Visually, the X5 M and X6 M are obviously very different to the standard models, with a more aggressive exterior design and a sporty interior.
The peak output of the new M turbocharged engine powering the BMW X5 M and BMW X6 M is, at 575 hp, four per cent higher than that of its predecessor and is available between 6,000 and 6,500 rpm. At the same time, the engine’s peak torque has been boosted by around 10 per cent to 750 Nm.

The new eight-speed M Steptronic transmission allows the new M versions of the BMW X5 and BMW X6 to sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in a mere 4.2 seconds. The top speed of both is electronically limited to 250 km/h.
Both models raise the bar in terms of lateral dynamics, steering precision and brake performance, while fuel consumption and CO2 emissions are around 20 per cent lower than for the previous models.
