February 24, 2016 – Force India’s Nico Hulkenberg prevented Ferrari from topping the times once again as he set the quickest laptime today on the third day of Formula 1 pre-season testing in Barcelona.
Hulkenberg clocked 1m23.110s on the red super soft tyres, with Romain Grosjean second fastest in the Ferrari-powered Haas after setting 1m25.874s on the soft compound.
Mercedes and Toro Rosso were the teams with most mileage as both cars completed 161 laps, whilst Ferrari had a frustrating day and was forced to delay its running until the afternoon due to fuel system checks.
There were three red flag interruptions today. The first was caused when Sainz was released from the pits with his right-rear wheel not properly attached, so he stopped at the pit exit. The second came when Haryanto spun the Manor into the gravel at Turn 5, and the third when Kevin Magnussen’s Renault stopped on the start/finish straight.
