2016 Formula 1 second pre-season test – Day 1 results

March 1, 2016 – The second and final Formula 1 pre-season test got underway today at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya in Spain, with Nico Rosberg topping the times in the Mercedes AMG W07 Hybrid.

Rosberg, who completed 82 laps in the morning, clocked 1:23.022 on the yellow soft compound to go quickest of all and set the fastest soft-tyre time since the start of winter testing last week.

Mercedes also racked up the most miles, with Rosberg’s world champion teammate Lewis Hamilton managing 90 laps in the afternoon, which adds up to a total of 172 laps for the German team.

On-track stoppages for McLaren’s Fernando Alonso and Ferrari’s Kimi Raikkonen caused two red flags in the morning, whilst the Renault of Kevin Magnussen came to a halt with 10 minutes to go till the end.
