2016 Rally Mexico final results

March 6, 2016 – Jari-Matti Latvala scored his first victory of 2016 in the third round of the season in Mexico this weekend after a commanding performance that saw him finish a minute clear of VW team-mate Sebastien Ogier.

Ogier led the way on the first day, but Latvala put in a stellar drive on the second day of competition to take a 32-second lead, and extended his advantage to 1 minute 35 seconds on the third day; Ogier responded on the fourth and final day by winning Sunday’s two special stages, but it wasn’t enough and had to settle for second place overall.

Hyundai’s Dani Sordo finished the event third overall, almost 2 minutes clear of M-Sport Ford rival Mads Ostberg, while Sordo’s team-mate Hayden Paddon rounded out the top 5.

Teemu Suninen triumphed in WRC 2 after a dominant display; he finished 5 minutes ahead of closest pursuer Hubert Ptaszek.
