February 12, 2016 – The first day of Rally Sweden, second round of the 2016 World Rally Championship, came to a conclusion with Volkswagen’s Sebastien Ogier in the lead.
Ogier enjoyed a trouble-free day, setting the fastest time in the first three of six special stages today, to finish the day 26.9 seconds ahead of Hayden Paddon, who scored two stage victories in the Hyundai i20.
Kris Meeke took a single stage win and was running second overall, but retired in SS8 after hitting a stone that damaged his car.
M-Sport Ford’s Mads Ostberg rounded out the top 3 and is 6.8 seconds behind Paddon, whilst Thierry Neuville and Jari-Matti Latvala faced mechanical gremlins, forcing the former to retire, but Latvala should be able to return for tomorrow’s action.
