March 26, 2017 – Sebastian Vettel gave Scuderia Ferrari its first victory since the 2015 Singapore Grand Prix as he won the opening round of the 2017 season in Australia today.
Vettel jumped pole-sitter and early race leader Lewis Hamilton after the first round of pit stops, with Hamilton stuck behind the Red Bull of Max Verstappen, which allowed Vettel to exit the pits ahead of the Mercedes driver.
Valtteri Bottas finished third right behind his teammate, while Kimi Raikkonen drove a lonely race to fourth place and finished ahead of fifth-placed Max Verstappen.
In the battle for supremacy among the middle-field teams, Williams came out on top as Felipe Massa finished sixth ahead of Force India’s Sergio Perez and the Toro Rossos of Carlos Sainz and Daniil Kvyat.
