June 21, 2017 – The 2017 International Engine of the Year awards have been handed out, and for the second year in a row, it was Ferrari’s 3.9-liter twin-turbocharged petrol V8, which is found on the 488 GTB, that took the overall crown.
The second best was engine was Porsche’s 3.0-liter turbocharged V6. The German sports car manufacturer also scooped the “1.8-liter to 2.0-liter” class award with its 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder from the 718 Boxster and Cayman, while BMW’s 1.5-liter three-cylinder electric-petrol hybrid rounded out the top 3 and won on the “1.4-liter to 1.8-liter” class award.
This year, 58 journalists from around the world participated in the awards.
