2017 Nissan GT-R to possibly be a hybrid

Further rumors have emerged concerning the next-generation Nissan GT-R, with Motor Trend magazine now reporting that the car might receive a hybrid system instead of the petrol engine-only layout.

The upcoming GT-R could get a petrol/electric hybrid powertrain similar to the one seen on the Infiniti Essence Concept, which uses a 3.7-litre twin-turbo V6 engine and an electric motor, producing around 600 horsepower.

The report says another hybrid layout is also being evaluated by the Japanese manufacturer.

Design-wise, the car will receive a sportier front fascia which maximizes downforce and increases high-speed stability, while retaining the current car’s proportions.

It is scheduled to appear for the first time some time in 2017 or 2018.
