The 2025 Toyota Camry, with its hybrid-only lineup and modern redesign, continues to dominate the mid-size sedan market with enhanced features and efficiency.
The 2025 Toyota Camry: Still Reigning Supreme in the Mid-Size Sedan Market
Toyota didn’t need to overhaul the Camry—America’s best-selling sedan for over a decade—but they did anyway, ensuring it remains a top contender. The 2025 Toyota Camry maintains its winning formula while offering improvements in key areas. With a sharp new design, upgraded interior technology, and a hybrid-only lineup, the Camry is more efficient and stylish than ever.
Under the hood, Toyota’s fifth-generation hybrid system powers the 2025 Camry, combining a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine with battery assist. This setup delivers 225 horsepower in the front-wheel-drive version and 232 horsepower in the all-wheel-drive model. I tested the latter—a fully loaded XSE AWD—which is paired with an electronic continuously variable transmission (eCVT) and achieves up to 44 MPG combined.
The hybrid system provides the Camry with smooth and quick acceleration, while the engine’s high compression ratio ensures strong performance even at highway speeds. While the Camry isn’t a sports sedan (we’ll have to wait for the next TRD version for that), it offers refined driving dynamics, with a balanced chassis, responsive steering, and a comfortable ride. The only downside is some engine noise under hard acceleration, typical of hybrid powertrains. Overall, the Camry remains a quiet, refined, and comfortable vehicle, perfect for city driving.
The XSE model I tested comes with real leather-trimmed seats, leather-lined door panels, and power-adjustable heated seats as standard. The $4,075 Premium Plus package adds ventilated seating and a host of other premium features. The interior also features a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and a matching 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system, both of which are significant upgrades over previous models.
Toyota’s latest infotainment interface is intuitive, responsive, and easy to navigate, with wireless Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and wireless phone charging included as standard. The cabin’s design benefits from aesthetic upgrades, including a glossy black plastic trim that extends across the dashboard, adding visual width, and aluminum accents that enhance the overall look and feel.
On the exterior, the 2025 Camry sports a bold new look with a large honeycomb grille, angular vents, a sharp hood line, and sleek headlights. The rear end is equally stylish, featuring curvy taillights, a subtle spoiler, and dual exhaust tips on the XSE model. The redesign elevates the Camry from a typical mid-size sedan to a standout in its class.
Toyota has also equipped every Camry with Toyota Safety Sense 3.0, which includes blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, adaptive cruise control above 20 mph, lane-departure warning, and road sign recognition. However, to get adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go compatibility, lane-change assist, and a 360-degree overhead camera, you’ll need to opt for the $4,075 Premium Plus package. Despite the additional cost, these safety features are invaluable, especially in stop-and-go traffic, making long highway drives much more manageable.
