Explore the redesigned 2025 Volkswagen Taos with enhanced exterior, upgraded interior, and a more powerful engine. Discover the latest tech and performance features.
The 2025 Volkswagen Taos presents a significant update, though it’s not an entirely new generation. This SUV showcases a refined exterior design, aligning more closely with other Volkswagen models, and boasts a more powerful engine and upgraded interior features.
Externally, the Taos features a redesigned front fascia with a new grille positioned lower and a sleek light strip along the upper section, reminiscent of the GTI, Jetta, and ID. Buzz models. The headlights are now smaller LEDs, standard across all trims, and the lower grille has been enlarged. At the rear, a light bar now connects the redesigned taillight housings, enhancing the vehicle’s modern look while keeping the original light size.
Inside, the Taos receives notable upgrades, including a new dashboard with an 8.0-inch floating touchscreen, replacing the previous 6.5-inch integrated screen. The upper dash panel has been redesigned, and a new climate control system has been introduced. Additional tech features now available on SE trims include Park Distance Control and the Adaptive Front Light System.
Significantly, the Taos’ powertrain has been enhanced. The turbocharged 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine now delivers 174 horsepower, an increase of 16 hp from the previous model, thanks to new piston rings, injectors, a larger intercooler, and a revised turbo housing. The engine is paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission across all drivetrains, replacing the previous seven-speed DSG in 4Motion all-wheel-drive models—a change Volkswagen made in response to customer feedback.
