Mazda EZ-60 Electric SUV Combines Innovation and Precision
Mazda is expanding its electric lineup with the new EZ-60, a tech-forward SUV developed in collaboration with Changan Automobile. Following the impressive EZ-6 sedan, the EZ-60 is the brand’s second joint venture EV—and it could be the next big thing in Mazda’s global electrification strategy.
Available as a full battery-electric vehicle (BEV) or a plug-in hybrid (PHEV), the EZ-60 prioritizes driving dynamics. Rear-wheel drive and a balanced 50:50 weight distribution (in the PHEV variant) promise engaging handling, true to Mazda’s Jinba Ittai driving philosophy. Electronically controlled dampers further enhance ride comfort and control.
Performance figures remain under wraps, but Mazda has revealed impressive range estimates: 373 miles for the BEV and up to 621 miles for the PHEV. Inside, the EZ-60 stuns with a 26.54-inch 5K touchscreen spanning the dash, equipped with voice, touch, and gesture controls for seamless interaction.
The cabin also features a premium 23-speaker sound system with headrest-integrated audio zones, enabling customized media experiences for each occupant. Advanced driver assistance includes smart anti-collision software and a remote-controlled parking system, allowing users to park the vehicle while standing outside it.
Though styling reception is mixed compared to the EZ-6, Mazda’s FUTURE + SOUL x MODERN design ethos aims for aerodynamic efficiency with features like slim camera-based mirrors.
